Comox Valley activities, attractions, things to do

Beaches and parks - The Comox Valley’s over 40 parks and numerous beaches are ideal for swimming, fishing, boating, hiking and camping. Stroll the Courtenay River walkway half a block east off of Cliffe Ave. Go on down to Comox Bay, the Goose Spit, Kye Bay, Airforce Beach, Saratoga Beach, Miracle Beach or Kin Beach and try your hand at sailing, kayaking, beach combing or fishing. Seal Bay Regional Park is a network of wooded trails on the Comox Peninsula. The paths are excellent for hiking and biking and some are wheelchair accessible.

Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park – Visit the property described as a `Jewel in the Comox crown`. The Lodge and 9 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds are situated on the waterfront close to the end of Comox Ave. This is home to the Filberg Festival held at the end of July or early August every year (www.filberg.com).

Mount Washington – Mount Washington is a unique destination where visitors can enjoy skiing, snowboarding and Nordic sports. In the summer months Mount Washington is a hiking and mountain biking haven. (www.mountwashington.ca).

Golfing – Glacier Greens offers an 18 hole course (www.glaciergreens.com). Sunnydale Golf and Country Club offers an18 hole course (www.sunnydalegolf.ca). Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community offers a 18 hole course (crownisle.com). Comox Golf Club offers a 9 hole course (www.comoxgolfclub.com). Longlands Golf Course offers an 18 hole course (www.longlands.ca).

Kayaking – Comox Valley Kayaks offers lessons, tours, sales and rentals and caters to the beginner through to the expert and everyone in between. (www.comoxvalleykayaks.com). Tree Island Kayaking provides sea kayaking tours on B.C.’s West Coast for all skill levels. They have a complete rental program and specialize in custom tour packages from kid camps to multi day adventures. (www.treeislandkayaking.com).

Vancouver Island Musicfest – Come and see this quintessential "west coast fest" featuring roots and world music performers from across Canada and around the globe usually held in July every year (www.islandmusicfest.com).

The Big Time Out – In September of 2005 Cumberland Village Works invited 2000 people to their 'front yard' for the Cumberland Village Works Festival, a wonderful celebration of music, culture and community. Since then the festival has evolved into The Big Time Out and Village Works has become a year-round host to some of the world's best performers (www.cumberlandvillageworks.com).
